Technical Manager Location: Sussex, UK (Remote/Hybrid options available for the right candidate)

As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Technical Manager on a full time basis to play a key role in driving our engineering and product development forward.
The Role
As a Technical Manager, you will form the technical backbone of our company, ensuring that engineering solutions meet customer needs while driving innovation and efficiency. You will work closely with the Sales and Engineering teams, manage supplier relationships, and oversee product design and development. This is a hands-on role that requires a mix of technical expertise, leadership, and problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Support: Represent our technical expertise in design meetings, exploring customers requirements and tailoring our offering.
Project Coordination: Ensure clear communication and alignment between Sales and Engineering teams.
Innovation & Problem-Solving: Drive new engineering ideas and ensure efficient, intelligent solutions.
Project Delivery: Ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget.
Supplier Management: Source and manage manufacturing suppliers, acting as the technical point of contact and enforcing quality control.
Documentation & Compliance: Improve standard documentation (drawings, manuals, installation guides) and ensure compliance with relevant industry standards.
Design & Development: Oversee SolidWorks-based design work and ensure all engineering outputs meet the highest quality.
Maintenance Strategy: Develop a tank maintenance programme and establish strategic partnerships worldwide to support maintenance work.
Who We're Looking For
We're seeking an experienced, detail-oriented engineering professional who thrives on challenges and driving technical excellence.
Experience & Qualifications:
8+ years in engineering
At least 2 years in the asphalt, bitumen, or construction industries.
Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
Experience coordinating projects, timelines, and budgets.
Proven background in managing manufacturing suppliers and enforcing quality control.
Strong technical knowledge of liquid flow systems (pipework, valves, heating, etc.).
Ability to read technical drawings and create P&IDs.
SolidWorks proficiency is essential.
Skills & Attributes:
Strong problem-solving mindset, with the ability to create intelligent, practical solutions.
Highly organised and detail oriented.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) for liaising with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
Ability to manage workloads, prioritise tasks, and guide engineering staff.
Comfortable working under pressure and handling multiple projects.
Self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Commercial awareness in engineering projects.
