Technical Estimator (fm)

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Technical Estimator to support our Contracts Manager with the estimating and pricing of quoted works and small works projects across our national M&E and Facilities Management accounts.

This is a fast-paced, commercially focused role suited to someone with a strong understanding of M&E services within an FM environment, who can produce accurate, timely, and competitive estimates while supporting the smooth delivery of works for key clients.

Key Responsibilities



Prepare accurate cost estimates for quoted works and small works projects across national M&E/FM contracts Review client scopes, specifications, drawings, and site information to produce compliant quotations Price mechanical and electrical works including labour, materials, plant, and subcontractors Support the Contracts Manager with commercial input, margin management, and value engineering Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations Clearly identify risks, assumptions, and exclusions within estimates Assist with variations, re-pricing, and additional works Maintain schedules of rates, cost databases, and estimating tools Ensure all estimates align with contract requirements, framework agreements, and company standards Support handover of successful quotations to operational delivery teams

Essential:



Previous experience as a Technical Estimator / Estimator within

M&E or Facilities Management

Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical building services Experience pricing small works, quoted works, or reactive/project works within FM Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and scopes of work Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimating software Ability to manage multiple quotations to tight deadlines

Desirable / Preferred:



Mechanical or Electrical qualifications (e.g. NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC/HND, or equivalent) Strong mechanical or electrical bias with demonstrable technical expertise Experience working on national or key FM accounts Knowledge of framework agreements and schedule of rates pricing Relevant qualification in building services, engineering, or construction Familiarity with CAFM systems and FM estimating platforms
