The Science Research Foundation (SRF) Limited is looking for a proactive, hands-on
Technical Lab Manager
to join our team at a critical stage of expansion and transition. This is a rare opportunity to join the team at a cutting-edge facility supporting technology companies in the heart of Bristol.
As the Technical Lab Manager, you'll initially be based at the Quantum Technologies Innovation Centre playing a key role in supporting lab operations. Looking ahead, this role will be pivotal in the transition to the University of Bristol's new Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus, opening in September 2026.
The new Bristol Innovations Zone (BIZ) will become a gateway for start-ups, scale-ups, and industry partners to collaborate with the University on high-impact innovation, particularly in areas like quantum, photonics and AI.
You'll help define and implement the technical, safety, and operational systems that will underpin the new space--building on your practical lab experience to create scalable, resilient infrastructure in a fast-paced innovation environment. This role will suit a scientifically trained professional--likely from a
photonics, quantum, or electronics
background--who is ready to take ownership of labs and equipment management and define the future state of technical support in our new facility. You'll work across a wide range of lab-based hazards and equipment, often independently, managing statutory compliance, day-to-day lab support, and project delivery. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has recently been at the bench, is familiar with lab realities (happy to roll your sleeves up and muck in), and is ready to step into a broader operational role.
