Role overview:



As the Triage Team Technical Lead, you'll play a key role in keeping our SaaS EdTech products stable, reliable, and impactful for teachers and schools worldwide. You'll guide a dedicated team of engineers to quickly resolve issues while also identifying long-term improvements that enhance customer experience and product performance. Alongside your technical leadership, you'll support your team's growth through mentoring, feedback, and career development.

This is a role where you'll make a difference not only within your team but across the whole organisation. You'll collaborate with colleagues in Operations, Sales, and Marketing, help strengthen release processes and security, and shape the developer experience. Key Responsibilities:



Lead the Triage Team in responding to, diagnosing and fixing issues affecting teachers and schools to deliver a reliable and stable service Using data driven approaches to identify trends within our products and develop long term solutions to improve customer experience Responsible for line management of all engineers within your team. Including 1-2-1's, performance feedback, career development plans, mentorship, and guidance. Accountable for monitoring and iteratively improving security, releases, performance across our suite of Edtech products Management of wider business stakeholders, including Operations, Sales and Marketing teams Recruit triage engineers into your team and help on our apprenticeship days. Work alongside other engineers and tech leads on improving the developer experience and engineering culture, with a particular focus on quality. Happy to contribute and share knowledge amongst their own team and Tes engineering via knowledge sharing meetings

What You Need to Succeed

Essential Skills

Demonstratable experience of leading software engineering teams. Proven skills in the line management, performance management and coaching of software engineers. Experience of writing software in one of our core languages (JavaScript, .Net or Java) but with the flexibility and willingness to work in whatever languages and technologies are required to fix customer issues Work with key stakeholders throughout the business to define, deliver and manage expectations on deliverables, as well as provide a point of contact for the triage team Hands on experience working with APIs (particularly REST APIs) and working with API blueprints. Working knowledge of both NoSQL and relational database technologies. Experience of the following; web and event based microservices, message queues, and caching. Familiarity with search technologies. A strong customer driven mindset. Good written and verbal skills, able to translate concepts into easily understood diagrams and visuals for both technical and non-technical people alike.

Desirable Skills

Experience with microservices using technologies like Docker for local development and Kubernetes for running live services. Experience working with quality assurance engineers and taking a test-driven approach to development. A good understanding of CI/CD principles.
