Role Purpose



The Technical Manager - Advanced Ultrasonics is responsible for ensuring the safe, effective, and technically robust delivery of advanced ultrasonic testing (AUT) services in line with client requirements and industry standards. Working closely with the Technical Director and project teams, this role maintains technical procedures, supports project execution, and develops capability across people, processes, and equipment to uphold Glacier Energy's high standards of quality, safety, and innovation.

Accountability



Write, review, and approve advanced ultrasonic testing (AUT) procedures, ensuring all documents remain current, compliant, and aligned with client and industry standards. Provide technical oversight on assigned projects to support safe, timely, and efficient delivery in line with commercial and quality expectations. Conduct technical feasibility reviews and site visits where needed, assisting project planning and technique selection. Liaise directly with clients to scope upcoming work, clarify requirements, and offer technical assurance throughout the project lifecycle. Oversee the readiness, maintenance, and calibration of advanced ultrasonic equipment, working with logistics to ensure traceability and reliability. Produce clear, detailed technical reports to support project documentation and quality assurance processes. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of AUT theory, techniques, and industry developments, recommending innovation or enhancements where appropriate. Support internal training and development of all personnel, including mentoring and contributing to certification pathways. Collaborate with project management and operational teams to ensure technical alignment and successful project execution. Promote and uphold high standards of HSEQ performance across all activities, contributing to continuous improvement and compliance.

Person Specification



Proven experience in advanced ultrasonic testing (AUT) within the energy, inspection, or industrial services sector. Strong understanding of NDT codes, standards, and legislative requirements related to AUT. Certified to PCN or equivalent Level 2 in relevant ultrasonic techniques; Level 3 desirable or willingness to achieve. Demonstrable experience producing and maintaining technical procedures and inspection documentation. Skilled in managing technical equipment, calibrations, and operational readiness of NDT tools. Confident liaising with clients and project teams to support planning, execution, and technical assurance. Strong report writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Committed to HSEQ principles with experience working under strict safety and quality frameworks.
