We're looking for an experienced and driven Technical / Quality Manager to join our Bradford manufacturing facility -- a high-hazard upper-tier COMAH site -- to lead the quality and technical functions with a clear focus on compliance, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
As a core member of the senior leadership team, you'll take ownership of the site's quality management systems, laboratory operations (including UKAS-accredited testing), and technical initiatives that support product quality, environmental permits, and regulatory obligations.
What You'll Do
Quality & Compliance; Lead and maintain robust ISO 9001 & ISO 17025 systems. Ensure compliance with COMAH, environmental permits, and Responsible Care. Oversee UKAS-accredited testing and support site operations. Conduct audits, manage KPIs, and drive corrective actions. Act as Major Incident Controller in emergency planning.
Technical Leadership; Provide expert input on chemical manufacturing processes. Partner with Production, Engineering & R&D to improve performance and efficiency. Lead technical training and knowledge transfer initiatives.
Continuous Improvement & NPI; Deliver continuous improvement using Lean/Six Sigma methods. Manage new product introductions from pilot to full-scale launch. Use data insights to optimise process efficiency and product quality.
Leadership & Collaboration; Lead and develop a high-performing quality & technical team. Promote a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement. Engage confidently with internal teams, regulators, and auditors.
Risk & Project Management; Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies. Lead cross-functional technical projects from planning to delivery.
What You'll BringDegree (or equivalent) in Chemistry or a related discipline. Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior quality or technical role in chemical manufacturing -- ideally on an upper-tier COMAH site. Strong understanding of ISO standards, UKAS accreditation, and environmental compliance. Proven leadership and people management skills. Excellent problem-solving, data analysis, and project management abilities. Clear, confident communicator with the ability to influence across all levels
