We are seeking a Technical Manager with strong commercial experience to lead the delivery of customised engineering solutions. This role blends technical expertise with business acumen, ensuring projects are engineered to meet exacting client requirements while maintaining profitability and supporting long-term growth. The successful candidate will manage cross-functional teams, engage directly with customers to translate needs into bespoke solutions, and oversee projects from concept, design and test through to industrialisation stage where other teams will then translate into standard manufacturing.
What does the role involve?
Technical & Project Leadership o Lead technical teams in the design, development, and delivery of customised engineering solutions for global customers. o Oversee feasibility studies, concept design, prototyping, testing, and validation. o Ensure solutions meet specifications, industry standards, and compliance requirements. o Drive innovation in design, materials, and manufacturing processes. o Balance technical performance with cost, lead-time, and manufacturability. Commercial & Business Management o Contribute to business growth strategies in global customised markets. o Monitor project budgets, costs, and margins to ensure profitable outcomes. o Identify significant opportunities for added value contact with our customers to ensure value added engineering, support when needed by our customers and repeat business. Client & Stakeholder Engagement o Develop teams so they can build strong client relationships throughout the project life cycle and act as innovative, technical experts who co-engineer with every customer to develop a solution. o Translate customer needs with skill and detailed exploration into engineering specifications. o Collaborate with suppliers and partners to secure specialist capabilities.
