Technical Manager

Reporting To:

Managing Director

1. Role Purpose

The Technical Manager is accountable for all technical aspects of Technical service, product development and quality control. This role leads the technical and design elements of the business, ensuring consistent product quality, driving innovation in formulations, and overseeing the successful scale-up of new products from lab to commercial volumes.

2. Key Responsibilities

Product Development & Innovation:

Drive formulation innovation. Manage the full lifecycle of New Product Development (NPD) projects.

Quality & Compliance:

Establish and maintain robust technical standards and process controls to safeguard product quality. Ensure all products meet regulatory requirements and safety standards.

Manufacturing Support:

Oversee the scale-up of pilot formulations to commercial production. Resolve complex technical issues in production.

Supplier & Customer Liaison:

Evaluate raw materials, maintain purchase specifications, and provide high-level technical support to the sales team and customers.

3. Essential Qualifications & Experience

Industry Experience:

Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in the product development of:

Water based coatings

2K Polyurethane systems

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in evaluating raw materials, creating complex formulations

Regulatory Knowledge:

Strong understanding of H&S regulations and REACH/other chemical compliance standards.

4. Core Competencies

Capability to influence technology strategies and present compelling cases to senior leadership.

Communication:

Strong written and verbal skills for report writing and cross-functional team coordination
The successful candidate will possess a strong work ethic, excellent team work mentality and a willingness to travel both in the UK and overseas.

Remuneration: The successful candidate will receive a salary and bonus based on experience.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 35,000.00-52,000.00 per year
