The successful candidate will be required to be available outside of services normal working hours as part of a standby rota to respond to out of hours service needs. A standardised standby payment will be made in respect of these duties.

About the Post:

Technical Officer \xe2\x80\x93 Air Quality

Regulatory Services at Barnsley protect the health, safety and well-being of those who live, work in and visit the borough, enabling local businesses to comply with their regulatory responsibilities. That\xe2\x80\x99s where you come in, as the Technical Officer \xe2\x80\x93 Air Quality in the Pollution Control Team. You will primarily be involved in the delivery of the Local Air management Regime, along with providing expert advice to key internal and external bodies with regards Air Quality.

Your role in our journey
You will specialise in the delivery of the local air quality management regime, ensuring statutory Air Quality objectives are met, working on specific air quality initiatives, and also providing expert advice and guidance to colleagues, partners and the public. You will be supported as a member of a wider team, covering Noise, Contaminated Land, Industrial Process Permitting, and will have opportunities to contribute to wider programs such as the Council\xe2\x80\x99s Climate Change agenda.

What you\xe2\x80\x99ll need
To join us, you\xe2\x80\x99ll need an accredited Level 6 qualification relevant to the work of the team. Substantial knowledge and experience of environmental monitoring, complex computer modelling, and of writing and interpreting complex scientific reports is essential. Experience of the Statutory Local Air Quality Management regime and associated legislation, as well as providing specialist advice to senior colleagues, elected members, the public and partner agencies ae both also essential environmental legislation is essential. You will also bring to the role a commitment to work flexibly, and an appetite for engaging in continuous training and professional development in this rewarding field of work.
