de Haviland Campus, Hatfield

The Institute of Sport is now housed in a recently modernised building situated on the De Haviland campus of the University of Hertfordshire. It is located adjacent to the Herts Sport Village and collaborates with them for the option to share resources. The building has dedicated CASES accredited laboratories, such as BioMechanics housing a GRAIL system, Physiology Laboratories, Sports Therapy and Consultancy. The facility attracts athletes and sports people from all levels in the surrounding area, which gives opportunities to support the testing of them.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The main duties include technical support for research & teaching in the recently modernized Institute of Sport and maintaining Data and Health & Safety compliance. You will be responsible for assisting in the preparation, maintenance and running of the laboratories as well as supporting staff and students who use them. This will include housekeeping duties to support laboratory activities. There will also be a need to assist with stock control of consumables and reporting of maintenance issues for equipment.

Skills and experience required



You must have knowledge/experience of sport science equipment and techniques, be able to work in a team and autonomously and possess good communication skills. Knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation including waste management is desirable for this role, as well as the ability to work to deadlines.

You will be flexible to team and workload requirements and have a committed approach to issues relating to equality and diversity.

Qualifications required

Educated with a minimum of five GSCEs at Grade 4/C or above, including Maths and English, or equivalent, or proven experience
