Scotland's Railway is part of this large family and it covers a large geographical area from the Borders to Thurso at the far tip of the North East of Scotland, accounting for almost 20 per cent of the UK rail network. We provide rapid access along busy commuter routes to our seven cities, servicing the varied needs of our business and leisure commuter services, including cross border services and rural services. We have up to 50 freight services operating every day and we are steadily building capacity for this to grow. Brief Description
The Technical Officer assists with the provision of technical support to the Maintenance Engineering team.

About the role (External)
Key Accountabilities
1. Carry out work safely and in accordance with the safe systems of work procedures, method statements, plans and other instructions.
2. Adhere to company policies and procedures
3. Assist in the provision of technical support
4. Assist in undertaking technical inspections, tests, investigations and analysis of technical data.
5. Assist with the preparation of method statements and/or plans for design or work activities where required.
6. Provide information and accurately update systems, databases and records.
7. Contribute to your own development and that of others.
Experience, skills, knowledge and competencies.
1. Able to work as part of a team.
2. Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
3. Hold and retain the competencies relevant to this post and required by business need.
4. Ideally hold or be working towards and NVQ level 1 or 2 (or equivalent) in an engineering/leadership subject.
5. Able and willing to drive vehicles as required by business need.
The Technical Officer is a safety critical role.
Any offer of employment will be subject to passing the relevant pre-employment
medical including a drug & alcohol test.
Please be aware that this role will involve working unsociable hours including weekends, nights and bank holidays. You may also be required to work on-call.

Salary:
23,758 (Entry Step salary) rising with training up to a maximum of 34,497 (Step 10 salary) + a Professional Managerial Allowance.
