As we scale, we're looking for a hands-on technical leader to help drive the delivery of our products and services, manage two key teams (Development and Project Implementation), and help shape the future of our technology roadmap.

The Opportunity



We're seeking a

Technical Operations Director

to join our leadership team - a hybrid role designed for someone who combines strong technical acumen with leadership experience and delivery focus. This is a high-impact role ideal for someone ready to step up in their career.

You'll lead both our development and implementation teams, ensuring effective communication between stakeholders, and the commercial director, timely and quality delivery of features and client projects, and a forward-thinking approach to platform growth. You will also act as the internal voice of engineering and the external voice of technology for clients.

Key Responsibilities



Team Leadership & People Management



Manage and mentor the software development and project/implementation teams Run effective stand-ups, retrospectives, and 1-to-1s Foster a collaborative, performance-driven culture

Technical Oversight



Provide guidance on architecture, code quality, and best practices Oversee the technical stack (PHP, Laravel, AWS) with a focus on scalability, security, and maintainability Work closely with engineers to identify areas for optimisation and refactoring Lead incident response efforts, root cause analysis, and preventive planning

Project & Delivery Management



Plan, prioritise, and coordinate project delivery in collaboration with stakeholders Translate business goals into technical initiatives and deliverables Work with clients to define, document, and deliver project requirements Oversee timelines, risks, resourcing, and client satisfaction metrics

Stakeholder & Client Communication



Represent the tech function in client calls and internal strategy discussions Provide clear and digestible updates to non-technical stakeholders Ensure alignment between business, implementation, and development goals

Operational Strategy & Scale



Help build the processes, documentation, and tooling necessary to support our next stage of growth Own and optimise delivery pipelines and DevOps workflows Contribute to vendor selection, budgeting, and security/compliance improvements Develop career paths, hiring plans, and onboarding documentation

What We're Looking For



Must-Have Skills & Experience



4+ years of technical leadership or management experience (engineering, delivery, or operations) Strong background in PHP and Laravel - comfortable guiding architectural decisions and reviewing code Solid hands-on experience with

AWS

(EC2, S3, RDS, CloudFront, IAM etc.) Proven track record of delivering SaaS or software-based client projects Ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams across development and project delivery Excellent verbal and written communication skills - must be confident liaising with clients and senior stakeholders Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and project tracking tools (e.g., Jira, ClickUp)

Nice-to-Haves



Experience in high-growth SaaS or start-up environments Knowledge of DevOps tools (CI/CD, Docker, GitHub Actions, IaC) Familiarity with ISO27001, GDPR, or similar compliance frameworks Exposure to frontend tech like Vue.js or Tailwind CSS Previous experience working with distributed teams

Pay: 65,000.00-80,000.00 per year
