Job Description

Are you an experienced Technical Operations Engineer looking for a new challenge? Here at McGill's, we are looking for a Group Technical Engineer to work within our engineering function as we drive technical change within the business and the industry. We currently have a fleet of over 120 electric PSV vehicles across the business with plans to increase our EV fleet. As a Technical Operations Engineer, you will play a crucial role in our mission to revolutionise public transportation. Your work will directly contribute to reducing our environmental impact, enhancing the reliability of our fleet, and ensuring the safety and satisfaction of millions of passengers who rely on us daily. So, what you will be doing:



Ensure all vehicle inspections are completed as per the company inspection program.

Ensure budgetary control is a key focus and report any potential constraints in a timely manner.

Ensure completion of inspection, defect, and audit reports using the internal documents as per the McGill's internal reporting policies.

Lead and co-ordinate rapid response efforts for emergency vehicle repairs working with Senior Engineering Managers and Engineering Managers across the Group.

Investigate component failures, determining root cause and recommending solutions to prevent further failures.

Analyse key data to determine trends and implement systems and procedures with the buy in of the wider Engineering Management Team to reduce vehicle downtime.

Investigate MOT failures determining root cause and recommending solutions to prevent further failures.

Liaise with suppliers on technical issues and programmes.

Audit and report defects found on vehicles that have undergone repair as part of the McGill's audit process, identifying areas for improvement.

Lead the Groups technical bulletin and instruction catalogue ensuring compliance and completion of both in a proactive manner.

What do we need from you:



A technical background with an interest in mechanical and electrical systems.

We're looking for someone that is inquisitive in nature, seeking out areas of improvement within the engineering function of the business.

Hold a suitable engineering qualification - Degree/HND/HNC/C&G Level 2 (or equivalent)

Good business and excellent communication skills

An excellent problem solver that sees issues resolved
