The Technical Operators (Access Services) role is to manage and operate all the broadcast equipment within Red Bee Media's Signing Gallery at the Broadcast Centre. They will be responsible for all technical tasks within the gallery.
The successful candidate will manage the equipment and workflow and ensure the successful delivery of access (signing) to the specifications of Red Bee's clients. The candidate will be required to operate the studio gallery, for the following:: Daily live signing News, and pre-recorded programmes - VT mixers, remote Studio cameras, File Delivery, HD and other VT format machines, Chroma Keyers and other associated equipment found in the gallery and studio. (full training will be provided)
File Based Delivery workflow - Harmonics/ Orchestra, Knowledge of Da Vinci, Stratus

The successful candidate will be required to work a rota with varying shift patterns including weekends and public holidays. This is made up of 8 and 12-hour shifts, usually between the hours of 6.00 and 21.00.
The successful candidate will share the day-to-day responsibilities for the health and safety of staff on duty. Will have knowledge of the relevant H & S precautions and procedures and provide appropriate information to staff and escalate to your line manager - Production Manager as necessary.
The role is one of the key customer-facing roles within the department, and therefore the successful candidate must have excellent customer-facing communication skills.
Reporting Lines and Key Relationships
This role reports to Production Manager - Signing. They should develop strong relationships with the team and the technical operator's team. A good relationship with the BBC News team, ECA and technology teams is also important to aid communication for reporting.
Key Accountabilities
Primarily part of the team responsible for handing interstitials and ensuring their scheduled transmission and service delivery
To log in and cache media for BBC, Channel 4, TNT Sports, and its clients. Technical quality check of material file-based delivery and reports faults according to specific guidelines laid down by clients.
To meet the Signing production targets for live signing and pre-recorded programmes
To understand the requirements of our clients, and to work with the rest of the SLT team to meet them
To introduce the production department and programme makers to SLT and to encourage their collaboration and support
To contribute to SLT editorial policy and standards
To monitor materials files and recordings to ensure standards of picture and sound quality in line with Red Bee Media and the client's standards
Experience and Knowledge:
Technical skills associated with the transmission of programs via manual and computerised systems, Microsoft operating systems
A good understanding of network technologies
Experience in providing remote support
Audio and video equipment systems, including live remote systems and an understanding of different database technologies.
A meticulous attention to detail and the ability to anticipate problems and resolve them speedily is essential
A strong level of initiative
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with technical and non-technical people, staff and freelancers, and remain calm and professional under pressure.
An understanding of the role in Red Bee Media and Access Services, and demonstrable motivation for undertaking this role.
Experience in a broadcast media environment
