As the Technical Prep Supervisor, you will oversee technical job preparation activities within our South London warehouse, with a key focus on managing stock levels and coordinating sub hire equipment to meet project demands. Working closely with internal departments, you will play a central role in ensuring our inventory is accurate, well-maintained, and deployed effectively. This role demands a strong technical background, excellent planning skills, and a sharp eye for detail.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the day-to-day operations of the technical prep area, ensuring equipment is prepped, tested, and dispatched according to project specifications.
Maintain robust stock control processes, including regular stocktakes, discrepancy resolution, and accurate asset tracking using internal systems.
Work closely with the hire desk and project managers to assess equipment availability, identifying gaps and initiating subhire orders when required.
Manage the subhire process end-to-end, including sourcing, booking, quality checking, and ensuring timely return of third-party equipment.
Oversee the loading and unloading of gear, ensuring handling procedures are followed and equipment is correctly packed and labelled.
Liaise with the projects and sales teams to understand technical requirements and translate them into clear warehouse instructions.
Supervise and mentor a team of warehouse technicians, ensuring best practice in equipment handling and safety procedures.
Conduct quality control inspections to ensure all kit is operational and properly configured before dispatch.
Participate in pre-production meetings, representing the warehouse team and providing insight into equipment availability, subhires, and prep timelines.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, particularly around stock accuracy, prep workflows, and cost-effective subhiring.
Ensure health and safety compliance within the warehouse at all times.
Take part in the on-call rota and support out-of-hours logistics where necessary.
Perform any other duties as required by the role and business needs.
Experience Required:
Proven experience in a technical prep, warehouse, or supervisory role within the events or audio-visual industry.
Demonstrated experience in stock management and subhire coordination, ideally using inventory systems.
Strong technical knowledge of AV, lighting, rigging, and staging equipment.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
Effective communicator and team leader with a hands-on approach.
Skilled in problem-solving, with a calm and practical attitude under pressure.
Competent with warehouse management software and common digital tools (e.g., inventory platforms, spreadsheets).
Able to work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends as required
