The Production Manager will be responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and delivery of high-end exhibitions, corporate conferences, and live events. While the role is
primarily office-based
, it includes attendance on-site for key projects to ensure successful execution and to maintain high production standards.
This role focuses on the
overall production management and client delivery
aspects of projects. The Technical Production Manager will take ownership of budgets, schedules, and cross-departmental coordination, while also providing leadership during onsite delivery of flagship jobs.
Key Responsibilities
Office / Pre-Production
Lead assigned projects from brief through to delivery, taking full responsibility for production planning and execution.
Liaise with clients, account managers, and internal teams to interpret briefs and produce practical, deliverable solutions.
Prepare quotations, budgets, production schedules, and allocate resources appropriately.
Produce production documentation including event schedules, risk assessments, and method statements.
CAD & Schematics:
Be prepared to train and develop CAD skills to produce accurate
pre-production drawings and technical schematics
(including signal flow, networking, and power distribution). Deliver full production packs for internal teams and on-site crew.
Coordinate crew, transport, and equipment requirements with the Operations and Warehouse teams.
Work closely with venues, suppliers, and partners to confirm services, logistics, and compliance requirements.
Ensure adherence to company and industry Health & Safety standards across all production activity.
On-Site Delivery
Act as the lead Production Manager on selected high-profile jobs, providing professional client-facing management.
Serve as the principal point of contact for clients during onsite delivery.
Manage and direct onsite crew, ensuring installation, operation, and de-rig of AV, LED, IT, and networking systems are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Provide leadership in troubleshooting and problem solving during live events.
Maintain strong client relationships by ensuring expectations are met or exceeded on site.
General
Support Operations in resource planning and workload management.
Contribute to the development and refinement of production processes, workflows, and best practices.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff, including Technical Project Executives.
Be flexible to assist other departments where required to ensure overall company success.
The Person
3-5 years' experience in AV production management or senior technical project roles within exhibitions, conferences, or live events.
Strong understanding of audio-visual, LED, IT, and networking technologies in live environments.
Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
Excellent organisational, time management, and detail-oriented skills.
Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication abilities.
Commercially aware, with budget management experience.
Proficient in Microsoft Office; willingness to train in and use
CAD software and schematic design tools
for pre-production documentation is essential.
Health & Safety knowledge and formal training (e.g., IOSH/NEBOSH) desirable.
Flexible regarding evenings, weekends, and travel when required.
Full UK driving licence and valid passport.
Hours of work:
Office 7.5hrs per day (37.5 hours per week) or as workload determines
