Job Description


Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor\'s degree in a technical or business field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in program management

Preferred qualifications:

  • 6 years of experience in optical networking, submarine networking, or a related area.
  • Understanding of telecom industry or submarine cable, optical fiber infrastructure, optical system design, and installation.
  • Ability to work comfortably in an environment where professional acumen is needed to fill in the gaps and support the decision.
  • Excellent attention to detail, written/verbal communication, organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skills.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You\'re equally at home explaining your team\'s analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage projects of various size and scope, identifying future opportunities, improving processes and driving the technical directions of your programs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage submarine infrastructure delivery using standard project management tools (e.g., Workfront, Chiron, Buganizer, Salesforce, Hauler, and Apotheca).
  • Create strategies for maintaining and operating submarine line terminal equipment, including policies, procedures, operational plans, and technical documentation.
  • Apply technical acumen to complex delivery problems to ensure efficient submarine delivery.
  • Collaborate with partners, vendors, and internal stakeholders to execute on infrastructure delivery and support operationalization of submarine network equipment, including management of communication, budget, and timing.
  • Support partner teams to manage submarine infrastructure maintenance agreements and negotiation with vendors.
