A day in the life of an Ascent Technical Project Manager - Flight Data Monitoring
As the Technical Project Manager - Flight Data Monitoring, you will establish and operate FDM across a range of aircraft operated within the United Kingdom Military Flight Training System, covering fixed and rotary wing aircraft types. You will be involved with, a wide range of stakeholders within UKMFTS as well as external customers and supply chains. The role will be based at our Training Hub in Bristol with travel to our flying training sites at RAF Valley, RAF Shawbury and RAF Cranwell be required to work directly with the Operating teams at those sites.
You will:
Deliver early expertise and guidance that reduces risk and improves programme outcomes within the provision of the FDM service.
Provide timely cost-effective solutions to technical problems.
Apply appropriate practices to manage FDM solutions and to resolve operational issues.
Establish credible relationships with internal and external stakeholders, supported by ongoing feedback.
Identify savings gained by identifying and delivering more cost-effective solutions.
Demonstrate Ascent Values & Competencies for Role, i.e. extent and frequency of positive examples.
What will make you successful
You will already have ....
Demonstrable recent experience in the requirement capture, development and implementation of an FDM system.
Significant experience of a systems engineering approach to the design and implementation of a FDM system.
Current knowledge of existing/potential FDM systems.
Have a working knowledge/capability of Project Management skills in a systems engineering environment.
Sound knowledge of the standards related to FDM including RA1208/CAP739.
Demonstrate self-motivation and be able to work in a team environment and alone when required.
And you will also:
A good understanding of military flying training in the UK.
A good understanding of aircraft operation and flying characteristics of various aircraft, with actual flying experience a bonus.

Created as a joint venture between Lockheed Martin UK AND Babcock International; and is responsible within the UK Military Flight Training System (UKMFTS) for the training design and training delivery that creates the next generation of aircrew.
