BPE Audio is an acoustic consultancy and audio installation specialist delivering beautifully discreet, high?performance systems for bars, restaurants, clubs, hotels, and premium residential spaces. We combine system design, installation, and noise consultancy, often in heritage buildings and live trading venues using platforms such as Q?SYS, Dante/AES67, and premium loudspeaker lines (e.g., L?Acoustics, Martin Audio, Sonos Architectural). Our projects often integrate PTZ cameras, conferencing, and control to create seamless customer and staff experiences.
The Role
We're hiring a hands?on Technical Project Manager / Project Engineer to own projects end?to?end from pre?sales and design through installation, commissioning, documentation, and handover. You'll be equally comfortable running site meetings and RAMS as you are tuning a system with Smaart or building logic in Q?SYS. This is a client?facing role with real autonomy and clear progression (specialising toward PM or Engineering over time, if you wish).
What you'll do
Project Management
Scope, programme, and deliver multiple projects on time and on budget (typically 5k-250k+).
Produce and manage SoW, BoM, drawings, RFIs, and change control; track costs and margins.
Plan resources, book sub?contractors, coordinate with GC/MEP/IT and venue ops; chair site meetings.
Own compliance: RAMS, permits, method statements; align to CDM and venue requirements.
Maintain a clear schedule (Smartsheet/MS Project), risk register, and weekly client updates.
Ensure quality control, snag-free handovers, and a tidy site.
Technical Engineering
Lead site surveys and acoustic/AV needs analysis; advise on design options and constraints.
Create system designs: schematics, loudspeaker layouts, rack builds, and IP/network plans.
Configure and program Q?SYS, DSP, control and user interfaces; integrate Dante networks (QoS/VLANs/clocking).
Commission, test, and tune systems (Smaart/EQ/limiters); produce as?built docs and O&Ms.
Integrate mics (e.g., Shure), PTZ cameras (NDI/VISCA over IP), and UC/presentation I/O as required.
Provide client training and first?month post?handover support.
What you'll bring
Essential
3-7+ years delivering installed audio/AV projects in hospitality, leisure, retail, corporate, or live venues.
Strong audio systems expertise (loudspeakers, amplification, DSP, control, gain structure, protection).
Practical experience with Q?SYS and Dante (L2+ level knowledge: discovery, routing, QoS, clocking).
Confident reading architectural/MEP drawings; able to produce/redline schematics and layouts.
Solid understanding of IP networking for AV (subnets, VLANs, PoE, DHCP/Static, basic firewalling).
H&S literacy: RAMS, permits to work, working at height; proactive approach to site safety.
Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK; willingness to travel and work occasional evenings/overnights for cutovers.
Nice to have
Manufacturer certs: Q?SYS L1/L2, Dante L2/L3, Shure Integrated Systems.
Measurement & design tools: Smaart, EASE, Room EQ; CAD (AutoCAD/Revit/Visio).
Tickets: CSCS/ECS, IPAF, PASMA, SSSTS/SMSTS, Asbestos Awareness.
Experience in heritage/listed buildings and knowledge of UK noise guidance (e.g., BS 4142, BS 8233).
Familiarity with L?Acoustics, Martin Audio, RCF, d&b, Yamaha, Biamp; PTZ/NDI workflows; CCTV/UC integration.
Basic electrical skills (safe isolation, test & terminate), cable schedules, and rack power management.
