Role Overview

As a Technical Purchaser, you will be responsible for the end-to-end procurement of metals and engineering materials, tools, and services essential to our manufacturing operations. You will work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing of high-specification materials while maintaining strong supplier relationships and ensuring compliance with technical and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Source and procure raw materials, primarily metals (e.g., stainless steel, aluminium , titanium), tools, and subcontracted services.

Interpret technical drawings and specifications to ensure accurate material selection and supplier alignment.

Evaluate and negotiate with suppliers on pricing, lead times, and quality assurance.

Monitor inventory levels and forecast material requirements in collaboration with production planning.

Maintain and update procurement records, supplier databases, and purchase orders.

Ensure compliance with industry standards, company policies, and quality requirements.

Develop and maintain strong relationships suppliers.

Identify cost-saving opportunities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Resolve supply chain issues, including delays, non-conformance, and quality discrepancies.

Oversee stores operations, ensuring efficient stock control and accurate inventory management.

Ensure the MRP system is consistently updated and aligned with production needs.

Requirements

Proven experience in a technical purchasing or procurement role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.

Strong understanding of metals and materials used in precision engineering.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.

Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

Experience with ERP/MRP systems.

Knowledge of ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality standards.
