The Role
This is a
customer-facing technical sales role
for someone who enjoys speaking to customers, picking up the phone, and moving opportunities forward, while also having a solid practical understanding of manufacturing, materials, and engineering drawings.
You'll own enquiries from first contact through quotation, order handover, and delivery, making sure the customer gets the right solution and the factory gets the right information.
Key Responsibilities
Customer & Sales
Be the
first point of contact
for customer enquiries by phone, email, and meetings
Ask the right questions to
capture requirements
(application, function, constraints, lead time, quality expectations)
Provide
technical guidance
on materials, processes, tolerances, and manufacturability
Build confidence and trust with customers through clear, responsive communication
Follow up quotations
and convert enquiries into orders
Identify opportunities for repeat work and long-term relationships
Quoting & Order Processing
Prepare clear, accurate
written quotations
within agreed timeframes
Record and manage activity and opportunities in the
CRM
(notes, next steps, quote status)
Create and maintain job records, ensuring requirements are captured correctly and traceably
Production Handover & Delivery Coordination
Create
job packs/paperwork
that clearly communicate all project details to production
Coordinate
lead times and delivery dates
with the team to ensure on-time delivery
Keep customers updated on progress and manage expectations professionally
Required Skills & Attributes
Confident, professional
telephone manner
and enjoys speaking with customers
Strong practical understanding of
manufacturing methods and materials
Able to
read and interpret technical drawings
(and ask smart questions when something is unclear)
Organised, detail-focused, and able to manage multiple enquiries at once
Strong IT skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
Excellent written and verbal communication
Ideal (Nice to Have)
Salesforce (or similar) CRM experience
Exposure to ISO9001 and/or AS9100 environments
Automotive / Motorsport / Marine or Aerospace background
Additive manufacturing experience
Ability to review and understand 3D data (e.g., STL)
HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or apprenticeship / equivalent practical manufacturing experience
