We are seeking a confident, technically capable professional to step into a non-working Engineering Supervisor role within a key government contract at ISS, one of the UK's leading Facilities Management providers.


This is an excellent opportunity for a Lead Engineer or Supervisor looking to move into a first-line management role and take the next step in their career.





This home-based position involves overseeing a small team of five engineers across several key government office sites in the north, with primary focus on Darlington and Glasgow.


Occasional travel may be required to Newcastle, Middlesbrough, and Aberdeen (note: Aberdeen requires no regular site presence).


You will play a critical part in the delivery of engineering services across M&E maintenance, minor installations, and general fabric repairs.


While you will not be on the tools, your role will be essential in leading the day-to-day operational performance of your team, maintaining compliance, and delivering a high standard of service—particularly at one flagship site which regularly hosts senior government officials and foreign representatives.


Key Responsibilities




Supervise and coordinate planned and reactive maintenance tasks Conduct performance reviews and manage absence, holidays, and team development Ensure safe working practices are followed by engineers and subcontractors Act as the main point of contact for client and stakeholder communication Support compliance with operational procedures and documentation (e.g., SOPS/MOPS/EOPS, O&M manuals, asset registers) Maintain effective inventory control and equipment storage on site Support contractor coordination, site access, and safe work completion Drive operational improvements and help manage small project works

Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications




Technical or engineering background (M&E preferred but not essential) Recognised qualification in a relevant trade or building services discipline Strong interpersonal and communication skills Demonstrable leadership ability (e.g., team lead, supervisory, or mentoring experience) Comfortable engaging with clients and providing high-level service delivery Organised, proactive, and capable of supporting wider operational objectives
