Job Description

The purpose of the post is to support the delivery of environmental compliance and the job holder will be responsible for providing technical support for site environmental activities.

The technical specialist role is working within the sampling team, organising, collecting environmental samples to comply with legislation. This role requires you to work outside, as part of a team, all year round and have a general level of fitness as it is an active job working in all weathers lifting sampling equipment, and instrumentation.




Main Responsibilities




To undertake sampling of various media in support of the sites environmental sampling programmes To take measurements in the field using field technical instrumentation To manage data and info associated with samples - including input to SAMs (ipads) and completing forms where necessary Managing samples from generation through to dispatch Participate in field-based activities, including sampling, radiometric surveys and maintaining documentation Support sampling and analysis data management and evaluation including the environmental monitoring programme (EMPROG) and characterisation/monitoring Provide technical advice to internal and external stakeholders on environmental issues Review/prepare safe system of work documentation including work scope and hazard reviews, work scheduling and interactions Monitor contractors against technical specifications and contract requirements Perform the responsibilities of management appointments relevant to post



Aptitudes and Experience




HNC Engineering/Scientific or equivalent qualifications plus experience A clean driver's licence is essential Team worker and able to interact effectively with staff at all levels with good oral & written communication skills Good organisational and planning skills Self motivated and flexible Ability to work under pressure and to time deadlines whilst maintaining quality of output



Terms and Conditions





Basic Annual Income - 37,147 to 58,109 overtime rates apply as standard.



37.9 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Every third Friday being a non-working day.



Annual Holiday Entitlement: 25 days annual leave, 8 public holidays, 2.5 privilege holidays



12 Month Contract



Security Clearance - Vacancy requires candidate to undergo security clearance checks
