As a hands-on technical leader, you'll guide a squad of engineers to design, build, test, and ship high-quality backend solutions. You'll set the technical direction, raise standards, modernise our tooling and SDLC, and empower your team to deliver at pace.

  • Designing and delivering efficient, scalable, end-to-end applications
  • Writing high-quality, well-tested code that aligns with modern frameworks and engineering best practice
  • Leading engineers of all seniorities, setting goals, and driving performance
  • Keeping applications secure, up to date, and fully aligned to our engineering policies
  • Driving DevEx improvements, CI/CD standardisation, and automation
  • Owning the SDLC - collaborating closely with Test to ensure strong coverage and automation
  • Supporting architecture with design decisions, trade-offs, and solution evaluations
  • Prioritising and clearing technical debt
  • Delivering cost optimisation and driving adoption of AWS best practices
  • Managing repos, documentation, environments, pipelines, and engineering hygiene
  • Running demos, championing innovation, and pushing forward POCs

  • 8+ years' experience in backend software engineering
  • Deep experience with Java, Maven, Spring Boot, TypeScript
  • Strong understanding of REST APIs, WebSockets & cloud-native engineering
  • Hands-on expertise with AWS (EC2, ECS, Lambda, Fargate, CloudFormation/CDK)
  • Solid grounding in CI/CD, DevOps automation, and modern SDLC (Scrum, BDD, TDD)
  • Experience leading engineers and driving delivery in agile environments
  • A passion for collaboration, coaching, innovation, and raising the engineering bar
