We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Technical Support Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the effective operation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of automation machinery within the business. This role leads Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and validation activities, and develops technical documentation including work instructions and SOPs. The Technical Support Engineer collaborates closely with Quality team to perform root cause analysis on the machinery and implement corrective actions, and partners with R&D on new equipment development projects. The role also focuses on analysing machine performance and downtime data to drive process improvements, while providing technical training to operators, and supporting the department supervisors in servicing and the upkeep of automation equipment. The role also involves supporting the configuration, troubleshooting, and optimisation of control systems such as PLCs and HMIs to improve machine performance and reliability.
Responsibilities
Support the performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of automation machinery across manufacturing and R&D environments.
Plan, coordinate, and support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and equipment validation activities.
Troubleshoot and support the optimisation of machine performance, including working with PLCs, HMIs, and other control systems.
Develop and maintain clear technical documentation, including Work Instructions (WIs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and maintenance guides.
Provide technical training, guidance, and documentation to operators, maintenance teams, and other stakeholders to enable them to carry out maintenance and troubleshooting activities safely and effectively.
Analyse machine performance and downtime data to identify trends and implement improvement actions.
Support Quality teams with root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventative measures related to equipment performance issues.
Collaborate with R&D on the introduction and development of new machinery and automation processes.
Liaise with your manager, as required, on the development and improvement of existing automated assembly processes into cost-effective procedures.
Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety, quality, and compliance requirements.

Experience
Hands-on experience with automated machinery or mechatronic systems, gained through an apprenticeship or similar practical training.
Exposure to PLC and HMI systems (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) with basic understanding of configuration or troubleshooting.
Involved in equipment maintenance, diagnostics, or servicing, preferably within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
Participated in equipment installation, commissioning, or testing (e.g., supporting FAT or SAT under supervision).
Familiar with following or drafting technical documentation such as work instructions or SOPs.
Demonstrated ability to work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., Engineering, Quality, Maintenance).
Comfortable analysing basic machine performance data to identify trends or faults.
Strong interest in automation, control systems, and continuous improvement.
