Job Role Summary



An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Applications/Technical Engineer to join our Technical & Modifications Department on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing technical expertise and engineering support and management of the modifications department. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality engineering solutions, managing product modifications and supporting both internal and external stakeholders to ensure customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. This is a hands-on role requiring a blend of technical competence, analytical ability and strong communication skills. You will utilise your understanding of AC motor theory, electrical and mechanical engineering principles and modern drive technologies to support product development, modifications and after-sales activities.

Key Responsibilities



Using your understanding of basic motor theory and the different parts therein of both induction and permanent magnet type motors.

Using your good understanding of modern drive techniques and Eco-Design requirements.

Using your good understanding of motor applications theory particularly with respect to operation within a Hazardous Area environment, and suitable motor types required to support sales and new product launch.

Using electrical and mechanical theory and being able to perform a number of basic calculations using spreadsheets.

Becoming proficient in the use of CAD packages to create both 3D and 2D drawings.

Supporting Internal / External Sales and modification department with their daily activities.

Product Item creation and BOM creation on modification orders.

Creating and issuing various documentation, including type test certificates, datasheet and outline drawings.

Liaising with suppliers, producing specifications and assisting with queries and fault analysis.

Providing technical guidance to customers, both for new products and after-sales support.

Management and leadership of the Brook Crompton Modifications department to ensure that required modifications are completed on time in full and to the highest quality.

Manage the modifications team in terms of capacity planning management.

Manage the picking and re-stocking of spares working with the Supply Chain Manager.

Ensure that all returns into the company are managed in a timely manner against agreed processes and systems.

Qualifications and Skills



Experience and understanding of AC motors is essential

Engineering degree preferred, but relevant experience is key (preferably with AC motor background)

Excellent attention to detail with a critical and detail orientated approach, able to proactively identity solutions

Organisation and planning skills required for modifications process management

Excellent communication skills, ability to work in teams across departments and maintain a positive attitude

Previous team management experience desirable

Keen to learn and develop new skills

Excellent IT skills (with proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel)

Previous use of SAP is desirable

Training & Development



You will receive training to develop technical and practical skills. You will receive training on the management of the modifications department. Ongoing mentorship and support from experienced team members.
