Technical Training Instructor - Overhead Lines (OHL)
Location: Nottingham, with travel when required
About the Opportunity
Our client, a well-established organisation operating within the UK's energy infrastructure sector, is seeking a Technical Training Instructor to join their Electricity Transmission division. This division is responsible for the design, construction, and commissioning of high-voltage substations - up to and including 400kV - and the maintenance of transmission lines. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the safe and reliable delivery of electricity across the network.
Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and high-quality technical training with a strong focus on health and safety.
  • Continuously review and enhance training content and delivery standards.
  • Contribute to the development of new training materials and course content.
  • Provide expert technical training advice across the business.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all delegates during training sessions.
  • Conduct competency assurance assessments in line with industry standards.
  • Support internal audits and incident investigations.
  • Maintain accurate training records and manage associated processes.
  • Represent the training function professionally, promoting company values.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders to enhance the reputation of the training school.
Candidate Profile
  • Full UK driving licence (essential).
  • Hands-on experience working at height, ideally within an OHL or similar environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Confident communicator, both in writing and when presenting to groups.
  • Solid understanding of risk assessments and control measures.
  • Proven leadership capabilities and a proactive approach to training delivery.
  • Experience in customer or stakeholder relationship management.
