Technical Training Manager

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Technical Training Manager to support our Head of Technical & Training (HTT) in the smooth running of our Training Centre. This role involves planning projects, delivering a range of internal and external courses, and supporting qualifications for technicians at all levels.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop technical training courses for all levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced.
  • Deliver induction training for new starters, both skilled and unskilled, at our Chesterfield Training Centre.
  • Collaborate with the HTT on business development projects.
  • Support the development of new Training Team members (Regional Trainers).
  • Identify technicians with performance gaps and develop tailored training plans.
  • Deliver presentations and updates to Senior Management.
  • Support the implementation and delivery of specialist training (e.g., ADAS Diagnostics, Telematics, Tools and Equipment).
  • Assist the Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) in assessing qualifications (GQA & IMI).
  • Provide technical overviews to internal and external customers.
  • Evaluate products to ensure suitability and fitness for purpose.
  • Maintain up-to-date technical documentation, including the Technicians Handbook and Technical Information Reports.
  • Promote excellent customer service skills throughout the business.
  • Travel across the UK, including overnight stays, as required.
  • Work flexibly to meet business needs.
Key Skills and Knowledge:
  • Strong industry knowledge in automotive glazing.
  • Relevant qualifications in automotive glazing.
  • Proven experience as a Technical Training Manager, Technical Trainer, or in a similar role.
  • Experience in training, assessing, and developing automotive glazing technicians across all skill levels.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical concepts clearly and simply.
  • Track record in evaluating products for practical use.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and IT literacy.
