Technical Strategy & Operations

This new full-time Technician post is available from immediately on a permanent basis. This post is 1.0FTE (36.5 hours per week).

Summary of the role:

This full-time post is in Technical Strategy & Operations, within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (Biosciences). The Technician position primarily supports the second-floor Bioscience research laboratories based in the Geoffrey Pope building on the Streatham campus. https://biosciences.exeter.ac.uk./ The role presents the opportunity to gain skills and be a part of a thriving community in a busy and complex research environment. The second-floor laboratories cover a range of biological areas including molecular biology, plant pathogens, cell culture, cell biology, microbiology, physiological and biochemical analyses, analytical chemistry, and various microscopy techniques. We also support Defra work, provide health and safety advice, arrange equipment maintenance, order laboratory consumables and equipment and are familiar with key equipment within the laboratory (training can be provided).

part of the Division. We are research and teaching technical staff across the entirety of the University of Exeter. We work in specialist areas across the University and beyond, undertaking and supporting research and teaching and promoting compliance and best practice, in the labs, studios, workshops, and field.

The service is comprised of a team of talented individuals who support our teaching and research, and in training the next generation of top scientists. Our technical roles, which include experimental officers, laboratory technicians and research technicians, all focus on different aspects of science and humanities - from mechanical/electrical engineering, medicine and health, life sciences, social sciences, film, drama & communications, physics, geology and geography, and so much more.
