Job Description


The School of Pharmacy at Queen\xe2\x80\x99s University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of Technician.

The Technician will provide specialist technical support to the Pharmaceutical Chemistry teaching labs and technical support to research laboratories within the School of Pharmacy.

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate you have:

1. Academic and/or vocational qualifications e.g. NVQ 3, 2 A\xe2\x80\x99Levels, ONC/OND, City and Guilds Level 3 or equivalents in a relevant subject.

2. 3 years\xe2\x80\x99 relevant work experience to include:

2.1 A range of chemistry based and analytical techniques including:

\xc2\xb7 HPLC

\xc2\xb7 Rotary evaporator

\xc2\xb7 Karl fisher titrino

\xc2\xb7 Spectroscopy e.g. UV, FTIR.

2.2 Troubleshooting of equipment and liaising with external service engineers for repair.

2.3 Experience auditing laboratory health and safety including COSHH auditing.

2.4 Handling/storage of liquid nitrogen and bottled gases.

2.5 Experience in stock control and dealing with suppliers.
