Not your average role...




As technician you will be responsible for


Specialised maintenance and investigation work, including analysis of technical drawings and downloads. Delivering reliable service quality standard trains to meet the business needs. Manage and actively reduce outstanding technical and Service Quality Incentive Regime defects on all T&RS systems. Carrying out report writing to a high level as this will be passed to senior management and include findings from investigations, National Incident Reports and High-Risk Technical Incidents. Various relationships being established and maintained with various parties. Fault finding and attending failed units with assistance from out-based teams.

What You Bring...




To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate you have:


Completed a recognised Modern Apprenticeship at SCQF Level 6 or above in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related vocational field where the skills, knowledge, and experience are directly transferable to the requirements of this role. (Please note - the vocational qualification associated with the Modern Apprenticeship must be at SVQ/NVQ Level 3.) Academic qualifications in electrical/mechanical engineering to an NC standard. Experience of working in a fast-paced production or operational engineering environment. Proficient in using electrical testing equipment. Experience working on electric trains with experience working on class 334's and class 380's would be desirable. Flexibility, efficient, and enthusiastic with good communication and team working skills. Confidence working independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of ISO 9001 procedures. Ability to build strong relationships. Be self-motivated and who can motivate others. Ability to deliver and exceed on set standards and targets consistently. An understanding of specific compute databases and be computer literate.

A full UK driving license is essential. Shift work is involved. You will work as part of a team on a daily basis. Further details will be provided at interview.


Reference Salary: 58,440 per annum, pending pay award

Selection process




Selected candidates will be invited to a competency-based interview. If successful, the next stage will be a medical examination, drug & alcohol screening. Appointees must submit at least two satisfactory references, Disclosure Scotland clearance and complete a six-month probation period.
