Technician in ECS Teaching Electronics and Electrical Engineering Laboratories
Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton is the UK's top School integrating Computer Science, Electronics, and Electrical Engineering. The School is expanding its choice of programmes with the subject areas of Biomedical and Aerospace Electronic Engineering recently added.
To assist in the day to day running of our world-class laboratory facilities, used by Undergraduate students to gain practical skills to complement their theoretical studies, a position has arisen for a Technician.
You will provide effective and efficient technical support to the Electronics and Computer Science Level 2 undergraduate laboratories with the day-to-today operations to assist the Teaching laboratory Technicians setting and preparing the Electronic and Computer Science laboratory experiments and workshop. You will be supporting students and staff with technical queries and will be ensuring that there is a stock of the resources required to support lab activities.
You'll have practical knowledge and experience working in a laboratory environment or relevant technical role to provide technical support. Practical knowledge may have been gained through some or all of the following: work experience, Formal qualification(s) equivalent to Level 2 or 3 of the Regulated Qualifications Framework e.g. Level 2 GCSEs, AS or A Level, intermediate or advanced apprenticeship, or Level 3 award, certificate, diploma, NVQ.
You'll have excellent communication and organisational skills and be able to work as part of a team and with minimum supervision. You are expected to have excellent practical skills, be enthusiastic, proactive and self-motivated.
