Job Title: Technician \xe2\x80\x93 Weights

Location: Barrow-in-Furness. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Competitive

What you\xe2\x80\x99ll be doing:

  • Weighing of systems and equipment
  • Supporting weight Engineers to compile and manage whole boat weight estimates
  • Calculations of mass and centre of gravity
  • Using CAD packages to support weight calculations
  • Assisting in boat surveys and other activities within the yard
Your skills and experiences:

Essential:
  • Educated to GCSE standard or higher
  • Previous practical or technical experience in Manufacturing, Fabrication, Machining, Engineering or Marine Operations
Desirable:
  • CAD software experience
  • Apprenticeship in Manufacturing or Engineering

The Weights team:

A great opportunity to learn more about submarines and develop an engineering career in this exciting field. The Weight Engineering Team are a specialist group of engineers who play a critical role collating, estimating, and calculating mass and centres of gravity in submarine design and build ensuring safe operations. The Team forms an integral part of the Naval Architecture Department, which is responsible for designing the world\'s most advanced submarines for the Royal Navy and Royal Australian Navy.
