Our Explorer Programme

You'll join our explorer programme, a 2-year programme designed to give you depth and breadth of experience. Participating in job-based bespoke training from the start enabling you to go fully-equipped into your role as you embark on the first of three eight-month long rotations.

Please note that the Technology Developer business area is currently deemed out of scope for sponsorship. Please be assured that we considered all factors very carefully, prior to making this decision. Accordingly, as it currently stands, you would not be eligible to receive a Skilled Worker Visa from Barclays at the end of the Graduate Programme if you obtain a role in this area.

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

Accountabilities

Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance. Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives. Collaboration with peers, participation in code reviews, and promotion of a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing. Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions. Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
