Telecoms Lead Construction Engineer

Job Description




We are currently recruiting for a client facing Telecoms Lead Construction Engineer to become a key member of the team and have a high level of competency to deliver and manage all aspects of Telecoms installations, technical assurance, bid management, commercial and contract management within the Rail sector. The role will encompass:

  • Operational Comms installation including but not limited to:
  • FTN, FTNx & Legacy installation experience.
  • Installation and testing of fibre & Copper cabling systems.
  • OTDR Testing.
  • VOIP Installation and testing.
  • CAT5&6 Installations.
  • Disconnection and At-Risk Management.
  • Telephony \xe2\x80\x93 Lineside SPT, PZT, ETD and Direct Line.
Competencies required:
  • Must have held or currently hold CRE-Construction.
  • IRSE licensed is advantageous.
  • Relevant experience in Railway Telecommunications, with involvement in design and construction projects across Operational telecoms discipline.
:
  • Report directly to the Construction Director on the performance and productivity of the ATKINS Telecoms team and sub-contractors.
  • Experience working on systems including SPT, PETS, Fibre & Copper systems, FTN (Fixed Telecoms Network).
  • Management experience overseeing Grip stage 4-8.
  • Experience on Re-signalling projects interfaced with Telecoms.
  • Plan and manage Telecoms projects throughout the complete project lifecycle using Network Rail\xe2\x80\x99s GRIP and PACE delivery methodologies.
  • Responsible for compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and championing the Health and Safety culture, resolving arising issues or escalating as appropriate and ensuring safe delivery in line with the corporate safety vision.
  • Fully experienced in writing technical specifications, pricing of documents and review of tender returns.
  • Able to manage sub-contractors undertaking telecoms works and ability to manage an inhouse installation team.
  • Establish and maintain a collaborative, professional and pro-active working relationship with delivery contractors/partners\xe2\x80\x99 project management and site teams to ensure safe and successful delivery of project requirements.
  • Ability to build and manage teams successfully, including mentoring and developing staff.
  • Management of all staff including temporary staff to deliver projects nationally.
  • Integrate with and support early design development of the works and any Design/Engineering team who undertake electrical design works, including constructability reviews, technical assessments, resource forecasting, etc.
  • Briefing staff with latest technical & safety standards.
  • Key experience of EIS would be an essential skill for this post.
  • Successful hand back of assets to Network Rail upon completion of works.
  • Prepare O&M hand back documentation interfacing with the design engineers.
  • Manage all project materials through the correct procedures and make sure all materials are ordered on time.
