We are looking for an experienced and passionate chef to manage all aspects of the kitchen in a prestigious boarding school. As Temp Head Chef, you will oversee food production, manage kitchen staff, and ensure the highest standards of food safety and service. Key Responsibilities - School Meal Preparation, Kitchen Leadership, Food Hygiene

Plan, prepare, and cook fresh, varied menus that cater to a diverse student and staff population, including those with dietary needs and allergies Lead and motivate the kitchen team to deliver outstanding service and maintain a positive, collaborative atmosphere Ensure full compliance with food hygiene, health, and safety regulations at all times Oversee stock ordering and inventory management, minimizing waste and monitoring costs Adapt and innovate menus to meet nutritional guidelines and school policy requirements Deliver special diets and allergen management with clear communication to staff and students Foster a culture of training and development within the kitchen team Work closely with catering managers and other staff to support school events and service excellence

Requirements - What We're Looking For in a Boarding School Head Chef

At least 4 years of chef experience in a high-volume or institutional kitchen (school/boarding, education, healthcare, or similar environment preferred) Strong understanding of nutrition, menu planning, and dietary requirements for children and young adults Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate and Allergen Awareness (current and valid) Proven ability to lead and inspire a team, with excellent communication skills Reliable, highly organized, and adaptable to changing needs and routines A genuine passion for delivering high-quality food and exceptional service Enhanced DBS check required or willingness to obtain before starting (essential for school roles)
