Job Description

Job Purpose


To maintain company records and processes. To ensure customs compliance and trade compliance audit readiness.

Key Responsibilities


To maintain correct control classifications, tariff codes and country of origin data in the company ERP system, including validation of information provided by suppliers, ensuring that all supporting documentation is available for audit purposes.

To monitor export forward order book to ensure that all necessary compliance data is available at the point of despatch.

To provide correct and timely information required for issuing of accurate letters of instruction for all company imports.

To support business units in ensuring that customers are screened, in accordance with company procedures, using third party watchlist software and recording results in company ERP system.

To provide suppliers and customers with end user and product classification declarations where requested.

To identify opportunities for continuous improvement within scope of job role.

To escalate compliance issues or areas of concern.

To maintain IP data in company ERP system and to provide information to UK Customs as required, including the company's IP return

Other activities that may be assigned from time to time.

Decision Making


Determines screening outcomes, country of origin and tariff coding classifications based on available information.

Qualifications & Experience


Knowledge and experience of imports and exports is highly desirable. An understanding of export controls and customs procedures is preferable. Experience of working with a company ERP system will be beneficial.

Personal Qualities



The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate significant attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping. They will also show willingness to understand customs and compliance procedures and their impact on the business, as well as an ability to follow company procedures. An ability to communicate clearly internally at all levels and to third parties will be important. The successful candidate will be able to prioritise tasks and manage data.

Temporary role to cover absence.

37 hours per week

Monday to Thursday 08:00 - 16:00
Friday 08:00 -15:30
30 minutes unpaid lunch break each day

Reporting to the Head of Trade Compliance

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 3 months

Pay: From 12.50 per hour

Expected hours: 37 per week
