Job Overview

Peace Auto Trader, an automotive arm of Peace Staffing Services Ltd, is looking for a temporary mechanic/driver to support our growing car trading operations.

This role is separate from our cleaning and healthcare recruitment services and focuses ONLY on vehicle repairs and movement.

We are seeking a skilled and reliable mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in vehicle and equipment maintenance, with experience working on various types of commercial vehicles and heavy machinery. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a diverse fleet, ensuring safety and operational efficiency across multiple transportation and industrial platforms. The position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where mechanical expertise is valued and essential for smooth operations.

Job Responsibilities

Diagnose faults on used cars purchased from auctions (Manheim/BCA) Carry out minor-medium repairs: brakes, alternators, sensors, arms, batteries, etc Assist in restoring non-runner vehicles Prepare cars for MOT standards Test drive cars after repairs (must hold a valid licence) Move vehicles between yard, mechanic location, and seller/collection points Advise on needed repairs, parts, and cost estimates Record hours worked per job
Requirements

Mechanical experience (garage, workshop, or hands-on) Ability to independently diagnose faults Must hold a FULL UK driving licence Reliable, punctual, and able to work without supervision Comfortable working on auction vehicles Own tools preferred but not essential

Experience repairing accident-damaged cars Ability to source parts cheaply (Euro Car Parts, breakers, eBay) Minor bodywork/fitting experience
Work Schedule

Temporary, flexible role 2-5 days per week depending on cars available Hours agreed per job Long-term ongoing work possible
Pay

20 -27 per hour depending on experience Paid weekly Bonuses for quick and efficient repairs
