Purpose of the post



Ensure that the people of Gwynedd are at the centre of everything we do. Ensure a positive contribution towards the Council's cash flow by recovering general debts.

Responsibility for functions




Main duties



Responsible for monitoring and administrating debts on the accounts of care clients. This consists of working closely with the internal Legal Unit, external Legal Companies and the Care Commissioning and Business Service. It would mean contacting in writing to get the details of estates, monitor probate and check details on the Land Registry to ensure that the details of the accounts are up-to-date and arrangements are in place to receive the income owed. Be a part of the general debt recovery procedure by contacting customers by phoning, sending letters and notices before making referrals in accordance with the Council's standard recovery procedure. Refer cases of arrears to the Council's recovery agencies such as collection agencies and the internal legal unit and monitor the progress made. Inform Council services of the status of their debts where required and seek the approval of services to recover debts. Establish and review payment arrangements with customers and monitor such arrangements. Raise invoices and credit notes when required. Assist to create, update and maintain customer details on the debtors' system at the request of the services.
