We are looking to recruit a housing professional to join our Tenancy Support Service in Wiltshire.
As a Tenancy Sustainment Officer, you will offer advice and housing-related support to customers with a wide range of needs that enables them to sustain their tenancies.
This is a varied role that will require you to get 'stuck in' offering practical, side by side, support in the home, modelling new skills for the customer to build their growth and development. This role will be as unique as our customers are with no two days being the same!
Your tasks will include -

  • Providing support and advice to customers for them to sustain a tenancy. This will include developing a rapport with customers to maximise engagement.
  • Establishing constructive relationships of trust with customers, encouraging and supporting them to pursue realistic options.
  • Attending multi-agency working by sharing information and representing the business at professional meetings.
  • Managing mixed caseloads including immediate short-term advice and longer-term case management.
  • Being an advocate for customers with statutory and voluntary agencies, signposting to other support services as required.
  • Keeping records up to date and accurate, ensuring they are relevant and comply with Data Protection legislation, policy and procedure.
About you:
You'll be someone who can be sensitive to difficult situations whilst having the ability to negotiate and investigate individual customers situations. There will be occasions when you may need to provide challenging advice to customers in stressful circumstances.
You will be able to demonstrate your ability to learn new skills and legislation and work with customers with complex needs and issues. A working knowledge of current housing issues, housing law, welfare rights and related legislation will support your role every day, however, is not essential.
You'll be computer literate, and have a flexible, organised approach to your work, enabling you to cope with a challenging and varied case load.
You will be able to work in partnership with other agencies to assist and support our customers. The successful applicant will need to maintain and develop professional relationships with colleagues and a wide range of agencies.
Your skills will enable you to adapt your communication style to provide specialist advice with a wide range of people and organisations. Our successful candidate will be able to communicate well verbally and in writing.
The role will include travel, access to a vehicle and a full UK driving license is required.
