Job description
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated coach to join our small friendly team of coaches at our two venues; York House Gardens and Moormead Park Courts. Each venue has 4 tennis courts available for the local community with an established coaching programme set in attractive park grounds close to Twickenham town centre and the river Thames. We have a thriving tennis community at York House Gardens and at Moormead where the courts have been refurbished. There is a variety of different tennis sessions and levels provided from relaxed vets' social tennis sessions to competitive team drills and practices as well as many LTA initiatives and events. We aim to encourage all ages, levels and abilities to participate and to enjoy the game.
For the right person there is a great deal of potential, with opportunities to be part of a growing business venture. There will be training and mentoring opportunities available, with access to LTA funding for further training, qualifications and professional development. There are opportunities to work in an outreach tennis for schools programme.
The job will involve working on both the adult and junior programmes with children from age 3 and upwards. The hours will be spread throughout the week, to include some evenings and weekends. However, individual lessons can be organised at any time throughout the week.
Skills and qualities required:
Ability to play tennis to a decent standard
Minimum LTA Level 3 Coach Qualification for the coach role. (Level 1 for assistant coach)
Strong people skills; enjoy working with children and adults of all ages.
The ability and willingness to work on your own initiative as well as be part of a team.
To possess an attitude that is professional, friendly, and adaptable.
To be conscientious and have a good-natured approach to all aspects of the work required.
To be reliable and punctual.
To have an outgoing personality, enthusiasm and promote the fun element of tennis.
Ability to promote the tennis programmes and attract new participants.
Ability to organise competitive tennis for all ages.
Ability to carry out administrative tasks including the use of clubspark and marketing tasks would be an advantage. Training in these areas can be provided as required.
Ability to brew a decent pot of tea is desirable for the role!
