Nova Cement is a new company in Glasgow, specialising in the import and handling of cementitious products. We are establishing a cutting-edge cement terminal to serve the growing demand in the Scottish market. We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Electrical Terminal Supervisor to play a key role in our operations.
Job Overview:
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Terminal Supervisor with a strong electrical and mechanical knowledge to manage all operational aspects of our cementitious products' terminal operations. You will lead a small team and ensure the safe and efficient operation of unloading imported cementitious ships and loading out of flat stores onto day silos, and subsequently to road tankers. This role requires an individual with a solid engineering background to assist in the operation and on-site maintenance of our pneumatic ship unloader and terminal product movement systems. Working a mixed roster of days and nights, this position offers an excellent work-life balance.
Reporting:
The Operations Manager will report directly to the Managing Director, collaborating closely to achieve the goals set by the Board of Directors.
Responsibilities:
Operate and manage all operational aspects of the cementitious products terminal, including bulk ship handling, product storage and handling, equipment maintenance, and upkeep.
Oversee the safe and efficient unloading of imported cementitious products ships.
Manage the day-to-day operations of the company's equipment, including but not limited to vessel unloaders, and terminal product movement systems.
Maintain the highest standards of health and safety, enforcing safety protocols and promoting a strong safety culture among team members.
Collaborate with the Operations Manager to develop and implement operational strategies, policies, and procedures to optimise terminal efficiency and electrical systems.
Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and vendors to ensure the availability of resources and materials required for terminal electrical operations.
Conduct regular inspections of equipment and facilities to identify maintenance needs and initiate prompt repair or replacement actions.
Maintain accurate records of terminal operations, including inventory levels, product quality, and equipment performance.
Train and develop terminal operators to enhance their skills and knowledge in terminal operations, safety procedures, and equipment handling.
Collaborate with the maintenance team to schedule and prioritise equipment maintenance and repairs.
Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to terminal operations, ensuring compliance and driving continuous improvement.
Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of terminal operators, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Qualifications:
At least 5 years of experience in electrical jobs, preferably in a terminal or marine environment and vessel/cargo handling industry setting.
Technical college qualification in electrical engineering or a related field.
Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of effectively managing and motivating a team.
Excellent knowledge of cementitious products terminal operations, including bulk ship handling, product storage and handling, and electrical equipment maintenance.
Expert knowledge of H&S regulations and a strong commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical operational issues efficiently and effectively.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with stakeholders at all levels.
Strong organisational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.
Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by operational needs.
