Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled software test engineer with a track record of delivering high quality function and non-functional testing. As a senior test engineer you will be a key member of our technical team, working closely with developers and other test engineers to ensure the quality of our cloud-based PMS SaaS product and its key features. In addition the successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining test suites, with the aim of improving our process for evaluating the performance, reliability and scalability of our software application and underpinning AWS infrastructure.

What you will do

You will be involved in the full product development life cycle playing a significant role in delivering innovative solutions that are changing the way we all interact with hotels. You will also play a key role in the creation and maintenance of automated test scripts, as we transition from primarily manual testing to primarily automated testing. In delivering this you will collaborate closely with other test engineers and become a valued member of the team.

Your main duties will be to

• Design, create, execute and review manual and automated test scripts
• Ensure released software is of a high standard, in a timely manner
• Create test plans based on user story requirements provided by the product team
• Take a prominent role in test estimation
• Contribute to the ongoing improvement of our testing practices
• Provide guidance to any junior and mid-level Testers in the team
• Highlight any risks or issues you identify with a detailed bug report
• Be responsible for owning and managing your own personal learning and objectives
• Assist in the maintenance of the technical back log in collaboration with stakeholders
• Assist with deployment process and provide ongoing support

Core skills and experience

• A solid understanding of testing principles (ISTQB foundation or higher)
• Significant experience in a software delivery test role
• Experience of test plan design and creation
• Experience of test automation
• Experience of both function and non-functional testing (especially performance/load testing)
• Experience with non-functional testing tools and techniques, such as JMeter, Siege, Gatling, or LoadRunner
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse test results and identify areas for improvement
• You will demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively and autonomously with cross-functional teams

Desirable skills and experience

• Using Cypress for test automation
• Experience mentoring / coaching team members in good practice and design
• A good understanding of current and emerging trends in the tech testing industry
• An understanding of Agile principles (we currently use Scrum)
