The role reports to the Lab Manager within the Innovation Group. The Test Engineer leads the assembly of prototype mechanical seals, conducts tests, and analyses results to ensure prototypes meet product requirements, while documenting findings and sharing insights with the team. Additionally, the role involves maintaining a safe, environment, troubleshooting equipment and prototype issues, and providing input for the design of test equipment.
The key responsibilities are as follows -
Interpretation of unique prototype drawings, test specifications and requirements
Understanding test requirements and carrying out research & development test plans by:
Assemble prototype products
Carrying out tests using bespoke test equipment
Recording new processes and findings
Creating written and graphed test data reports and helping to conclude the outcome
Present data to wider group and provide insight on key test events
Part conditioning - experimenting using manufacturing methods to meet finish requirements
Reconfigure equipment to complete nonstandard tests through understand requirements, design and planning
Self manage own schedule providing commitments and executing effectively
Work in a safe manner and understanding and applying general safety practices.
Work in an organised manner understanding and applying 5S
Support written risk assessments and COSHH assessments
Contribute to team improvement projects
Management of inventory for key NPD projects
Apply a methodical approach to fault finding and RCA's: for both testing equipment and new products i.e. isolation of variables

UK:
HNC or equivalent Level 4 qualification
Technical Skills
Logical approach to fault-finding and troubleshooting
Familiar with pressure and associated physics
A keen eye for detail and for following processes/procedures
Good numeracy skills
Engineering/physics fundamentals
Experience level
