Test Systems Engineer

Aylesbury, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

UK-based | Full-time | Competitive salary | Location: Westcott l Hybrid

It's summer. You could be working on your tan, or you could be working on rocket engines.

We're looking for a Test Engineer to join the propulsion pioneers at our clients site in Westcott. This is not your average engineering role. It's hands-on, high-energy, and directly supports the testing of rocket propulsion systems used in space exploration, satellite launches, and next-generation defence missions.

This role sits within the Engineering Group and focuses on designing, assembling, and maintaining propellant and pressurant feed systems, as well as critical ground support equipment. Your work will bring together mechanical engineering, real-world problem solving, and the chance to be part of something bigger than yourself.

Here's what you'll be doing:

Designing and building test rigs and ground support systems used to fire and evaluate rocket engines. Developing test plans, performing risk assessments, and ensuring all safety and performance standards are met. Getting hands-on with assembling hardware, wiring up equipment, and installing and configuring instruments. Running propulsion system tests and collecting data that feeds back into future space system designs. Collaborating with engineering teams, customers, and external stakeholders, playing an essential role in key project meetings. Contributing to test reports and providing technical feedback that directly influences ongoing development.
You'll be based at our client's facility, one of the UK's leading propulsion test centres. The work here supports both commercial and governmental space efforts, making a direct impact on real missions across the globe.

Let's see if this sounds like you:

A degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Aerospace Engineering or Physics, or equivalent experience in a relevant field. Practical hands-on experience in a mechanical or aerospace setting. You're confident using tools and working in a test environment. An understanding of rocket engines, fluidic systems, or propulsion systems is ideal, but not essential if you're willing to learn. Someone who can stay focused when things get technical, keep safety top of mind, and problem-solve on the spot. A positive attitude and a strong sense of ownership over your work.

Why join Our Client now?

Our Client is a key player in the UK's space ecosystem. The site is part of the Westcott Space Cluster, where some of the most advanced propulsion technologies in Europe are being developed and tested. You'll work alongside passionate engineers, support real-world missions, and play a key role in helping shape the future of aerospace.

This is a perfect opportunity for someone who's ready to move beyond the desk, get into the lab or test bay, and truly see their work take flight.

If you're UK-based and looking for a role where every day brings something new, exciting, and impactful, apply now. We're looking to fill this position as soon as possible.
