We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Theatre Production Technician to join our theatre on a permanent part-time basis. This role is essential to the success of our productions, providing technical expertise in lighting and sound systems to create memorable theatrical experiences for our local community.
Duties
Technical Operations
Set up, operate, and maintain lighting systems for productions and events
Set up, operate, and maintain sound systems, including microphones, radio mics, speakers, and mixing equipment
Program and operate lighting control boards during performances
Manage sound mixing and audio levels during live performances
Conduct pre-show technical checks and equipment testing
Troubleshoot technical issues quickly and effectively during performances
Production Support
Work closely with directors, stage managers, and other production team members
Attend technical rehearsals and dress rehearsals as required
Support load-in and load-out of productions
Equipment Management
Perform routine maintenance on lighting and sound equipment
Ensure proper storage and care of all technical equipment
Conduct regular equipment inventories and report maintenance needs
Assist with equipment purchases and upgrades as needed
Maintain a clean and organized technical workspace
Health and Safety
Ensure all technical work complies with health and safety regulations
Conduct risk assessments for technical installations
Maintain safe working practices at all times
Report any safety concerns or equipment issues immediately
Skills
Proven experience in theatrical lighting design, setup, and operation
Strong knowledge of sound system setup, mixing, and live audio management
Familiarity with lighting control systems
Understanding of electrical safety principles and practices
Ability to work under pressure collaboratively as part of a creative team
Flexible approach and willingness to adapt to changing requirements
Passion for theatre and live performance
Ability to lift and move technical equipment safely
Comfortable working at heights on ladders and scaffolding
