Job Description

The post holder is responsible for the collation of patient information and the transportation ofpatients from wards to theatres. The post holder will be required to undertake a range of dutiesand work as part of the theatre team, which will contribute to the smooth and efficient runningof the peri-operative setting, and the provision of a consistently high standard of patient care.As part of this role, you will be expected to work in theatre reception and be competent in the use of 'TheatreMan'. Allied to this you are expected to cover all reception duties as required.
Main duties of the job
To ensure accurate/quality-controlled information is gathered for the patients' admission to reception, upholding and maintaining patient confidentiality, including timely preparation ofelective theatre listsOn arrival to reception, ensure patients' documentation is correct and accurate, and deal with any discrepancies in a timely manner to ensure patients are admitted without delayTo ensure that patients are sent for and collected in a timely manner to optimise the efficiency of our Operating Theatre departmentAssisting in the transportation of patients to and from the wards and within the Operating Theatre department as requiredEnsuring patient trolleys are safe to use and are in good working orderEnsuring patient trolleys are stocked accordinglyDaily checking and replacement of empty oxygen cylinders within theatres and under patient trolleysParticipate in routine cleaning and maintenance of patient trolleys and replacement of line.
Effective communication on the telephone, directing enquiries appropriatelyDealing with patients, the general public, relatives, carers and advocates of patients attending the reception area, giving a polite and professional service.
Responsible for keeping and maintaining a clean and tidy reception areaDistributing post, photocopying, sending, and receiving emails in a timely mannerTo receive and register patients on arrival to reception, following agreed procedures and obtaining relevant and accurate information
