Theatre Scrub Nurse Day Surgery Unit

London, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Band 5 Staff Nurse to join King's Day Surgery Theatres Scrub Team, providing the highest standard of intraoperative care to patients.

We are seeking a scrub nurse with recent or ongoing theatre scrub experience and a genuine interest in optimising patients' Day Surgery journey. You must be a team player and able to manage your own workload in a fast-paced environment with a high turnover of patients. Excellent communication skills are essential, as the role involves liaising with other healthcare professionals and admin teams both verbally and electronically.

You must have excellent IT skills, as we have gone paperless with our patient documentation. Our ideal candidate will also be an excellent problem solver, accepting of change, and able to reflect when necessary.

We care for both adult and paediatric patients undergoing a variety of procedures across a wide demographic area. The role involves scrubbing and circulating for all our specialties, including ophthalmology, orthopaedics, maxillofacial surgery, pain (joint) injections, general surgery (open and laparoscopic), endoscopy, gynaecology, urology, vascular, breast, and renal procedures. Please also note that we undertake terminations of pregnancy and cover on-calls for ophthalmic emergencies. The successful candidate will be expected to take on these roles.

You will be responsible for managing your clinical workload and resources, maintaining a high standard of clinical practice and providing expert holistic care to both perioperative patients and their relatives. This role requires a reassuring manner and a strong understanding of patients' rights, dignity, and safeguarding.

You will also act as a clinical resource within the unit and across the Care Group as necessary, demonstrating excellent and efficient scrub skills. Your responsibilities include ensuring compliance with our clinical governance framework, motivating colleagues, championing patient safety and dignity, and driving continuous improvement.

Furthermore, you will serve as a positive role model to colleagues, visitors, and learners.
