The Role
As a
Therapeutic Children's Mentor
, you will provide day-to-day care and emotional support for children and young people with complex needs. Using therapeutic approaches such as the
PACE model
(Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy), you will help children develop emotional regulation, resilience, and positive coping skills within a nurturing home environment.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver consistent, high-quality care within a therapeutic residential setting
Apply trauma-informed and therapeutic strategies to support children's emotional growth
Help children manage emotions, build confidence, and navigate daily challenges
Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment
Implement personalised care plans and therapeutic interventions
Contribute to team learning by sharing best practice and supporting colleagues
Requirements
Minimum of 1 year's experience in residential childcare (preferred)
Genuine passion for improving the lives of children and young people
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Patience, empathy, and emotional resilience
Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings and weekends
Commitment to professional learning and development
