Therapy Assistant - Band 4



7 month Fixed Term Contract



31,0811- 33,665 Inc HCAS per annum pro rata



Part-time contract 18.5 hours/week



The Post Covid Community Pathway across Bromley is expanding and we are looking for an enthusiastic and creative Therapy Assistant who enjoys working independently and as part of a team. In this role you will have the opportunity to complete assessments, interventions and reviews to adults resident in Bromley who have multiple symptoms including fatigue, breathlessness and brain fog.



We are looking for someone who has some experience working as a support worker and would like a role working with people who may have both physical and mental health symptoms that are affecting their ability to function, work and enjoy life as they used to. To be a member of the Post Covid Community Pathway providing assessments, treatments and reviews within a high quality service to the residents of Bromley. The post holder will hold a small caseload and be responsible for progressing simple rehabilitation programmes. Providing basic equipment provision, walking aid provision, referring on to external support services and reviewing and discharging patients with overall supervision from a registered member of staff.



The Therapy Assistant in the Post Covid Community Pathway will support all aspects of service delivery through virtual and face to face means, in both group and 1:1 settings in the community, clinics or people's own homes.

Salary is dependant on NHS experience and current banding/pay point, applicants from outside the NHS will receive the start point of the salary scale in line with NHS terms & conditions.

To be responsible for own clinical caseload of patients as allocated by a qualified Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist or Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner.



Joint working with Senior Therapists, admin and support staff to ensure the community pathway runs smoothly for all those referred.



Assessing patients through virtual or face to face means independently, making decisions with support from registered staff in the clinical assessment of patients with health and social care needs.



Agreeing goal orientated programmes in conjunction with the client, his/her family and other professionals involved and planning and implementing appropriate intervention.



Regularly monitoring and reviewing client progress using the 'Living with Covid Recovery' or 'Your Covid Recovery' online platforms.



To implement and progress patient management and treatment plans within scope of practice and in line with competencies whilst under the supervision of a senior therapist.



Liaising with other health care professionals, making referrals, making recommendations where necessary to reduce the effect of disability on health and wellbeing.



Participate in health promotion/education and give advice as necessary to clients and their carers.



Assessment for and provision of basic equipment needs in line with competencies.



As delegated to by senior staff, support clients by attending and on occasions leading group programmes related to Post Covid Syndrome symptoms.



Monitor client's health and medical status; reporting any changes or deterioration to the Senior Therapist and MDT involved in the client's care accordingly.



To attend the weekly MDT meetings to discuss clients.



To adhere to the Principles of Compassion in Practice and ensure that the culture of the service is enabling for patient's independence.



To use valid and reliable outcome measures to evaluate the effect of therapy interventions and ensure that treatment programs are progressing appropriately.



To ensure accurate, comprehensive and up to date clinical records are maintained in accordance with BHC guidance and professionally agreed criteria and within a multidisciplinary context to ensure an holistic approach to patient care.



To sensitively deal with distressing or emotional circumstances regarding patient care, and communicate information, sensitively, requiring empathy and reassurance, to patients, carers and members of the MDT both verbally and in writing .



To incorporate client preferences into treatment and rehabilitation decisions and to empower patients and their families through appropriate support and education.



To show respect to patients own beliefs, values and differing cultural needs.
